One person is killed in a bizarre accident on I-95 early Monday morning.

PROVIDENCE—A man was struck and killed following an accident on Interstate 95 early Monday morning, state police said.
Police said Karl Pernsley, of Woonsocket, was driving north on I-95 at about 6 a.m. when his car struck a sign and a guard rail.
According to police, Pernsley got out of his car, walked up onto the Route 10 overpass above the highway and jumped off.
Police said Pernsley managed to sit up and then was hit by at least three cars. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Alethia Gibson was with Pernsley at the time of the accident.
Gibson and the drivers that struck Pernsley were treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
Traffic was stopped for about two hours as police diverted cars from I-95 north to Route 10.
