A New Bedford fisherman was rescued Wednesday from a fishing boat about 100 miles off Cape Cod.

A crew member from the fishing vessel “Santa Queen” called the U.S. Coast Guard at about 3 p.m. to report that a crew member had injured his thumb while handling line on deck.

A cutter met the fishing boat about 60 miles off shore and took the crew man aboard.

The man, whose name was not released, was treated at Cape Cod Hospital.
