FALL RIVER, Mass.—Fall River’s jobless rate for December hit a 13-year high.

At 12.7 percent, the city has the second-worst jobless rate in Massachusetts, behind Lawrence.  More than 5,600 people in Fall River are out of work.

New Bedford had the third-worst unemployment rate in the state, at 11.8 percent.

NBC 10’s Mario Hilario reports on what people are doing to turn the numbers around.

This rate only shows the number of unemployed who are in the system—or ‘collecting’.  You’ve got to realize that the actual number of unemployed is higher—possibly DOUBLE the numbers shown.
