BARNSTABLE, Mass.—A Cape Cod woman is going away to prison for life.

A Barnstable County Superior Court jury on Friday convicted Robin Casali of first-degree murder, in the death of her great-aunt, Winifred Moniz.

The 73-year-old Moniz was stabbed to death in her East Falmouth cottage back in June of 2006.

Prosecutors said Casali, who lived next door, robbed Moniz to feed a drug habit.

She was also found guilty of armed assault with the intent to rob, attempt to murder a person over 60, armed robbery, possession of heroin, and possession of marijuana.

The defense argued unsuccessfully that Moniz was killed by her husband.

It took seven days of trial and 13 hours of deliberation for the jury to convict Casali.

She was sentenced to life without parole.
