PROVIDENCE—A Providence taxi cab company is losing its license for half of its cabs because the company routinely rolled back odometers.

Yellow Cab, which had authorization for 12 cabs, has also been fined $100,000.

The state Division of Public Utilities and Carriers said its the largest fine in agency history.

The agency says Yellow Cab not only rolled back odometers, but also picked up passengers outside its operating territory, and illegally charged passengers “flat rates.“
