PROVIDENCE—A grand jury on Tuesday indicted a Providence man in connection with killing his girlfriend.

David Tineo, also known as Johnny, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Ingrid Gonzalez. The 34-year-old woman was found dead in her Providence home on July 5 after police forced their way in.

Police said the 35-year-old Tineo fled to New York City, where he was held after Gonzalez’s death. He was brought back to Rhode Island July 31.

Tineo, who is currently held without bail at the ACI, will be arraigned in Providence Superior Court on Nov. 2.
