Southern New Englanders paused Friday to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Rhode Island State House, and another observance was held at the Providence Public Safety Complex.

In Fall River, people gathered at Battleship Cove for a remembrance ceremony. The Fall River Fire Department chaplain and emergency responders boarded the USS Massachusetts for the casting of a wreath.  A bell was rung in honor of the victims.

A memorial observance was held Thursday night at the Seekonk Police Department. The remembrance was for all of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.  (Watch related video.)
