5 beaches reopen for swimming; 2 close

PROVIDENCE—Five beaches in Rhode Island that had been closed to swimming because of high bacteria counts can now reopen.

The state Department of Health said Tuesday that Camp Grosvenor in North Kingstown, City Park Beach in Warwick, Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick, Gorton Pond Beach in Warwick and Oakland Beach in Warwick were safe for swimming.

But health officials have ordered the closing of Plum Beach Club in North Kingstown to swimming because of high bacteria levels, and Governor Notte Beach in North Providence remains closed.
