Investigator: Mother, baby shot at close range

WOBURN, Mass. -- A state police chemist testifying in the trial of a British man accused of killing his wife and daughter has testified that they were shot at close range.

Deanna Dygan testified Friday in the double-murder trial of Neil Entwistle, who is accused of killing his wife, Rachel, and their 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose. She said the type of lead found on the pillowcase both mother and daughter were lying on usually doesn't travel more than 18 inches from the end of a gun's muzzle.

Prosecutors have previously said that Rachel Entwistle's DNA was found on and in the muzzle of the .22-caliber revolver used in the killings.

Also testifying Friday was a fraud investigator for the eBay online sales site who said Neil Entwistle had received numerous complaints from eBay customers who said they had not received merchandise they purchased from him. The complaints were made in the weeks before the killings in January 2006.
