Woman killed in single-car crash

TAUNTON, Mass. -- A woman was killed in a single-car crash in Taunton on Friday morning, forcing the closure of Route 24 South for several hours.

State police identified the victim as 39-year-old Lisa Wedge of Lakeville, Mass.

The accident happened just before 7 a.m.

Police said Wedge was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima south when she lost control of the car striking the median guardrail on the left shoulder of the road.

The car traveled to the right and rolled over before finally coming to rest in the breakdown lane.

Police said Wedge was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was not wearing a safety belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
