Boston police have reassigned to desk duty a police officer accused of giving two male strippers a police escort, the NBC 10 I-Team reported Friday.

The Boston officer is accused of escorting the strippers from Logan International Airport to a Boston club. There were allegations that the Boston officer also escorted them to Providence. But the officer, through his lawyer, denied that.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino said if the allegations are true, he wants the officer removed from duty.

“I told the commissioner I want the strongest method possible on this individual—to use him as an example that when we’re laying off people, you better be doing your job,“ Menino told WHDH-TV.

The I-Team reported that the escort was arranged by Scott Birchall, a convicted sex offender who lives in Rhode Island and works for the Trixx male strip club on Allens Avenue.

When the strippers made it to Providence the next day, they performed live sex acts at the Trixx club, which is legal in Provivdence.

The I-Team could not find Birchall’s name on Rhode Island’s list of registered sex offenders, which is required by law.
