PROVIDENCE—Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have dropped a penny over last week, although fuel here remains more expensive than the national average.

A survey Monday by AAA Southern New England showed a gallon of regular, unleaded was averaging $2.58 per gallon at self-serve stations. Prices have dropped 12 cents over the past five weeks.

A year ago, a gallon of gas cost $3.95 per gallon, or about 53 percent more.

Usually they claim “transportation” costs.

Often tho the smaller stations have to sell what they have, they bought it it the higher cost.

Why is it that the further you drive away from the Cities, the higher the prices go. I have seen $ 2.45 in Warwick to
$ 2.61 in Foster?

Never really saw a drop here at all.  Seems like all the retailers kept the profit for themselves.

I go to Vermont on a weekly basis and the price there, way up in the mountains was $2.41 a gallon this past weekend.

Never saw it even close to here.  Hess one of the biggest dealers in the area dropped there prices by about 2 cents.

Scam once again.

Sorry, but you better get it right—prices are going back up now.  This story was the truth as of last Friday, but over the weekend the prices have reversed their trend.
