WASHINGTON—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Frigidaire on Tuesday announced a recall of thousands of washing machines because they could pose a fire hazard.
According to the company, there’s a defect in the washer’s drain pump that could cause heat to build up.

The recall involved the Crosley, Frigidaire, Kelvinator, Kenmore, Wascomat and White-Westinghouse clothes washers.
