Does running AC save you gas?

On the subject of cars and money, is there any truth to the myth that turning off the air conditioning and rolling down the windows will save you gas and money?

Our tester, drove a car with the windows down then drove the same car and distance with the air conditioning full blast to see which run got the best mileage.

And you might be surprised to find out which run got the better mileage.
