A Canadian company is recalling four hot chocolate sets because they may contain melamine, the Rhode Island Department of Health said Monday.
The department said Dorsey Marketing Inc., of Quebec, distributed the products to Big Lots stores during the weeks of Sept. 22 and Sept. 29.
The recalled products are:
G & J Hot Cocoa Stuffer, item 120144 (UPC 061361201444)
G & J His and Hers Hot Cocoa Set, item 120129 (UPC 489702201296)
G & J Cocoa, French vanilla flavor, item 120126 (UPC 061361201260)
G & J Cocoa, double chocolate flavor, item 120126 (UPC 061361201260)
No other products are involved in the recall, and no illnesses have been reported. Infant formula manufactured in China that contains melamine has been linked to kidney disease in children, the Department of Health said.
Consumers who purchased the products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers with questions may contact Tim Acheson of DMI, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The toll-free number is 1-888-645-1053.

I did toss them and got more from fish market. Husband got them at S&S, so they are one of the culprits buying Chinese goods.
Seriously, you would think that with all this they would wake up and stop importing food products from China. Having other non-edible goods from there is bad enough b/c they are poorly made. I always try to check where food I buy is from, and I leave the China products where the are!
I agree. Bargain food from other countries is often not a bargain. Hit the local small seafood store that you can trust, pay a little extra, but be assured that what you’re buying is fresh and local. You can always make up the cost elsewhere, where it might not be so injurious to your health. Large companies care not what they sell, they care about the profit margin. Your local guy cares about reputation as well as the personal relationship you have with him/her. Far better off fostering that than saving five bucks.
I say toss them. Buy fresh & support your local fishermen!!!
My husband just brought home some frozen bay scallops, but they are from China and I am not sure I want to use them for my chowder. What do other people think?
I agree with daburgess. We need things made right here in the USA! The way it used to be.
We must put a ban on bringing in alot of food products from china. They don’t care whats in the food that they ship to the USA. They were putting melamine into dog food and that killed thousands of peoples pets. Its like a quiet poisoning of americans. Our companies cant check every food batch we eat so beware !
