Gas prices drop in R.I., Mass.

Gas prices continued their spiral downward last week, dropping another 5 cents a gallon in Rhode Island, according to the weekly survey by AAA Southern New England.

In Massachusetts, prices fell 8 cents a gallon.

AAA reported that the price of gasoline has dropped an average 38-42 cents per gallon over the past six weeks.

The average price for self-serve  in Rhode Island sits at about $3.69 per gallon. A year ago the average price was just shy of $2.77 per gallon. In Massachusetts, the current average price is $3.70 per gallon.

There is some good news for diesel users as well. The average price for a gallon of diesel dropped 11 cents over the past week.
