Recycling with the blue and green bins
Please remember these 3 rules when recycling:
Shredded paper can be put into paper bags and right in the green container.
Cardboard/Boxes are mandatory recycling items, and must be flattened and cut into pieces no larger than 3 feet x 3 feet.
No plastic bags. Do not put recycle items into plastic bags. All items go directly into the bin, or paper items go into paper bags only.
Recycling beyond the Blue and Green Bin:
Clothing/Shoes/Fabric - Can be dropped off in the Kiducation boxes located throughout town.
Hard Covered Books/CDs/Videos/DVDs - Drop off in the Got Books container at Kendall Dean.
Ink Cartridges - Drop off boxes at the schools and library.
Plastic Bags - In the Restore boxes at the grocery store. (All grocery shopping bags/newspaper sleeves/dry cleaner bags/bread and produce bags).
Furniture/Household Items - can be donated if still usable to RI Donation Exchange at 831-5511.
White Goods/Appliances - call Coastal Recycling at 785-4008 to schedule appointment. (washers/dryers/refrigerators- doors removed/lawn mowers – fluids removed/stoves/dishwashers)
Yard Waste – collected curbside from April 1 - June 1 and Oct. 1 -Dec.1. Otherwise drop off at the Highway Facility. (all yard waste must be put in paper lawn bags - no plastic bags are accepted)
Florescent Light Bulbs - may be dropped off at any Home Depot's customer service desk for recycling. They will accept small bulbs as well as those that are up to 4 feet long.
