Town Info

East Providence was originally part of Seekonk, Massachusetts, settled by Roger Williams and his followers in 1636, and wasn’t officially incorporated into Rhode Island until 1862. It is bordered by rivers on much of the east and west borders along with Narragansett Bay on the southern border. This growing city, with many ties to its past Native inhabitants, has easy accessibility to both the city of Providence and rural southeastern Massachusetts.
