Central Falls is a city in Providence County, RI. It is the smallest city in the state. Central Falls takes its name from a waterfall on the nearby Blackstone River.
Cumberland was originally settled as part of Rehoboth and was later transferred to RI. William Blackstone was the first European to live in Cumberland and lived on a farm in the Lonsdale area. A machine shop in Cumberland made the first power looms for woolens in America. Cumberland also has a large Portuguese-American community.

Slater Mill, built in 1793 by Samuel Slater on the Blackstone River, was the first commercially successful cotton-spinning mill with a fully mechanized power system in America. Slater Mill is still open to the public for tours and history lessons. Pawtucket is the fourth largest city in the state of RI.
Smithfield, a town located in Providence County RI, was first settled in the 1600s as a farming community and named after Smithfield, London. There was an active Quaker community in early Smithfield that extended to south Uxbridge MA. Bryant University, a four-year business school formerly known as Bryant College, is also located in Smithfield.
Woonsocket is a city in Providence County, RI and it's the sixth largest city in the state. The region was originally inhabited by three Native American tribes — the Nipmucs (Cowesett), Wampanoags, and Narragansetts. It was incorporated as a city in 1888. After the Great Depression, the local textile industry closed. The city's fortunes were revived in World War II, when it became a center of fabric manufacturing for the war effort. Woonsocket is the corporate headquarters of CVS Caremark, a leading integrated pharmacy services provider, and is the home to Landmark Medical Center.
