An after-school arts program in Providence is standing a little taller after getting an award from first lady Michelle Obama.
Members of New Urban Arts received a President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities’s Coming Up Taller Award on Wednesday at the White House.
The initiative recognizes outstanding out-of-school and after-school arts and humanities programs.
New Urban Arts is a studio and art gallery for students in Providence.
New Urban Arts was an NBC 10 Champions in Action winner in 2005.
