Nephrotic syndrome is not a disease, but a malfunction in the kidney’s filtering system that, in some cases, leads to kidney failure.
There is no known cause, and many of the children who respond to treatment relapse. Most grow out of it, but not all.
That’s why a local man whose daughter has the condition is joining in the race for a cure.
NBC 10’s Barbara Morse Silva reports.
