PROVIDENCE -- Rhode Island Hospital introduced its new president and CEO to the media Tuesday.

Dr. Timothy Babineau most recently worked as the senior vice president and chief medical officer for the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

"I've been up at 3 o'clock in the morning. I've been coming in. I've been covering the ER every third night and every third weekend for 22 years, so I know what it means to be shoulder-to-shoulder with front-line caregivers who are trying to provide the best patient care they can," Babineau said.

Babineau said he looks forward to meeting one on one with staff in his first 90 days and do what he calls "active listening."

Babineau will start his new job Oct. 1. He replaces Dr. Joseph Amaral, who left the top post last year.

To hear more from Babineau, watch Barbara Morse Silva's report to the left.
