State to study South County basin

The state plans to study the HAP basin in South County.

The HAP (Hunt-Annaquatucket-Pettaquamscutt) basin is a series of streams and groundwater systems in North Kingstown and East Greenwich.

The goal of the study is to demonstrate how the state can meet current and future water supply needs while protecting critical river resources.

The state also wants to show how conserving water, especially in the summer months, plays a major role in future water availability.
