MYSTIC, Conn.—Two of seven visiting beluga whales from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago have been integrated with three resident beluga whales at the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, officials said Thursday.

The visting whales are staying in Mystic while their permanent residence in Chicago is being renovated.

Officials at Mystic said the whales are introduced one at a time to maintain the comfort of all the animals.

Eventually, five other beluga whales will be introduced into the main pool of the Mystic exhibit.

Beluga whales, normally white in color, are about 15 feet long.
