How long have you been together? When did you meet? Eric and Jen have been dating for over five years! This includes a long distance relationship while Jen was an undergraduate student at Colby College in Maine and while she was studying abroad in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Jen and Eric first met in the Summer of 2003 while both working their part time jobs at the Gap Outlet in Wrentham, MA. How did you meet? On Jen’s very first day of work at the Gap Outlet, she was assigned to work in the fitting room. Eric turned out to be working in the fitting room also. For those that have ever ventured into the Gap Outlet, they know that the store is always incredibly busy, especially this particular day! One of Jen’s first conversations with Eric involved Eric telling her that Jen would be the perfect person to assist people into their fitting rooms! Although not the most romantic setting, over the months Jen and Eric were able to talk and get to know each other while both working in the fitting room! When did you get engaged? Jen and Eric were engaged this summer on Thursday, June 25th. How did you get engaged? Although Eric had planned on taking Jen on a romantic dinner for the big proposal, Jen decided that she wanted to go to Friendly’s instead! Meanwhile, Jen’s family was patiently waiting to hear the big news, since Eric had asked for permission earlier that week. Eric needed a back up plan because as funny as it would have been to put the engagement ring on top of the Friendly’s Sundae, he wanted to do it somewhere more special. Back home in Pawtucket later that night, Eric asked Jen to go for a walk with their dog Bruce, a 5-year-old Basset Hound. However, Eric’s second attempt at proposing was denied! Jen told Eric that she had to do the laundry. Not having an alternative backup, Eric decided that he could not wait any longer. After walking Bruce, Eric returned home and proposed, telling Jen that he had been trying to do this all night and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her! Of course, Jen said yes! Tell us why you should win a free wedding at The Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings from NBC 10 and A Better Sound. Remember, creativity counts! Tell us a story, write us a poem, just plain entertain us! Jen Coliflores and Eric Rosenthal should win a free wedding at The Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings from NBC 10 and A Better Sound because they are a dedicated couple that have been together for over five years! Many of their memories over the past five years of dating have been shared in Rhode Island. Whether it was their first date at Sicilia’s Pizzeria on Federal Hill or day trips spent on Block Island or at PawSox games, Jen and Eric are happy to have such strong ties to the Ocean State. Eric is a life long resident of Pawtucket, growing up in the Oak Hill Neighborhood and attending Schechter Day School. Now a data analyst at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Eric makes the long commute to Boston every day but still calls Rhode Island his home! Jen is currently a second year law student at Roger Williams University School of Law. She spent this past summer working in the Law Department for the City of Providence as a Mayoral Fellow for Mayor Cicilline’s Office. She hopes to develop the necessary skills to become an effective and socially oriented lawyer and also hopes to work in Rhode Island one day. One of their favorite things to do is to try new restaurants around Rhode Island. They can often be found sharing a piece of chocolate cake from Gregg’s Restaurant or eating clamcakes from Aunt Carrie’s (Even though Jen is allergic, she still loves them!). Other favorite past times include taking their five year old Basset Hound named Bruce to the dog park or the beach! Jen and Eric are not only dedicated to each other, but are also dedicated to their community. Jen is the volunteer executive director of the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on empowering youth leadership in high school students across Massachusetts. Eric is a frequent blood donor at the RI Blood Center and has participated in a bone marrow transplant for a young woman in need. Jen and Eric plan to incorporate both of their Filipino and Jewish cultures into their wedding day! They have an incredible support network of their family and friends and would do anything for them! Jen and Eric know that whether they win this contest or not, they will be surrounded by the people that love them on their wedding day. Both Jen and Eric plan on staying in Rhode Island and raising a family here one day. Tell us one of the funniest things that has ever happened to you as a couple? One day, Jen and Eric were thinking about their future and the possibility of having children one day. The realized that the only Jewish-Filipino celebrity that they could think of was Rob Schneider! From then on, Rob Schneider was a running joke in their relationship. Now, everytime a Rob Schneider movie is on the television, they had to watch it!
