FALL RIVER, Mass.—The assets of a Fall River restaurant and cooking school went on the auction block on Thursday.
Facing tax problems, the Abbey Grill and International Institute for Culinary Arts went bankrupt.
When it closed, people planning to hold wedding and other events lost their deposits and were forced to find new venues.
Thursday’s bankruptcy auction sold of supplies and a liquor license in the hopes of paying back some of those who lost their money.
The building will soon be auctioned off separately by the bank.
