PLYMOUTH, Mass.—Plymouth Rock Studios has taken another big step toward building a proposed $550 million film, television and digital studio in Massachusetts.

Plymouth Rock announced Thursday that it has secured a loan from Orlando, Fla.-based Prosperity International, subject to the studio providing security from a major bank.

The proposed studio at the site of the former Waverly Oaks golf course in historic Plymouth would include 14 soundstages and 10 acres of exterior sets. The project also includes post-production
facilities, a theater and a hotel.

The company has targeted spring 2012 as a completion date.

In a statement, Plymouth Rock said it also continues work on lining up the necessary project permits and leasing.
