Holiday hiring to be slow, official says

Hiring is expected to be down this holiday season in Rhode Island.

Paul DeRoche of the Rhode Island Retail Federation is quoted in Monday’s Providence Business News as saying many retailers are telling him they may hire no additional staff for the shopping season this year.

Most retailers said they expect sales will be down because so many Rhode Islanders are unemployed and will cut back on gifts.
