NEWPORT, R.I. -- The owner of Newport Grand told NBC 10 on Thursday that the slot parlor is no longer for sale.

Diane Hurley said she has taken the venue, which is undergoing renovations, off the market.

Hurley said her business is not having any cash-flow problems, unlike the state's other slot parlor, Twin River in Lincoln. Twin River's owners said business is growing, but the company owes millions to contractors.

Hurley said her customers are spending less money.

"We have been maintaining our customer base. They just have fewer dollars," Hurley said.

Hurley said Newport Grand is not being marketed.

"We're concentrating on completing the build-out, opening this new gaming room in August, and going forward, continuing to utilize our rewards program, and keep the business and grow the business ourselves," Hurley said.

The renovations at Newport Grand are expected to make room for 400 or 500 more video slot machines. The state will get a share of the revenue.
