PROVIDENCE—The daughter of the retiring presiding justice in Rhode Island has been confirmed as a judge.

The state Senate unanimously approved Kristin Rodgers on Friday for a seat on the Superior Court. The 41-year-old Rodgers is currently a private practice lawyer.

She is the daughter of Joseph Rodgers, who announced last week that he was retiring as Superior Court presiding justice after 35 years as a judge.

Rodgers was nominated by Gov. Don Carcieri to fill the seat of the retired Superior Court judge, Vincent Ragosta.

This should never have happened.  There had to be someone else better qualified than the judge’s daughter.  Nepotism in Rhode Island at it’s best!!!!

I’m a big fan of the Governor, but my stomach is a little upset over this one.
