Carcieri set to sign green energy bill
Published: June 26, 2009
PROVIDENCE—Gov. Don Carcieri is scheduled to sign legislation for Rhode Island’s emerging renewable energy industry that he says will make the state a “national leader” in the field.
The governor is expected to sign the bill at a green economy roundtable Friday.
The bill will allow utility National Grid to set up long-term contracts to buy renewable energy and will help pave the way for proposed wind farms off the Rhode Island coast.
The legislation would help Deepwater Wind, the New Jersey company behind the offshore wind proposals, attract private financing by guaranteeing a buyer for its energy.

Great job Governor!! And don’t give in to the state-employee & labor unions who represent them. The real key to saving our beloved state is pension reform…....in other words….eliminate them and turn the system into a 401(k) plan like other states are considering. Go to the people with this, bypass the legislature, this will be your legacy by saving the STATE.
