CHARLESTOWN, R.I.—Three seals were released on Wednesday morning at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown.

Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration’s Seal Rescue Clinic representatives released a female harp seal, a male hooded seal, and a female gray seal after they rehabbed in Mystic.

The female harp seal was rescued in Norwich on March 30 and was severely dehydrated, while the male hooded seal was rescued in Maine on Feb. 12 and had possible shark bite wounds on its face and flippers.

With the current population boom in the seal populations, I’m not sure they need to be rehabing them and releasing them back to the wild.  I think they should let nature do its work.  If a wounded fish washed up on the beach, they’d be more likely to bring it home for dinner.  Wonder what seals taste like… mmmm…
