RI recommends no swimming at three beaches
Published: June 23, 2009
The state Department of Health said Tuesday that three beaches in Rhode Island should be closed to swimming because of high bacteria counts.
They are Bristol Town Beach in Brisol, and Goddard Memorial State Park and Gorton Pond Beach in Warwick.
Health officials said they would continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming.

i think we should get the people out of office .sence they been in . nothing but high unemployment .last i heard 12% school teachers can’t get paid , water not safe to swim in and people in office getting fatter.
I’m surprised Lincoln woods is not closed. That place is like little Mexico. Dirty Dirty Dirty.
my god all i hear is the east coast has the best beaches . If thats true then why every year we are constantly closes beacjhes . this happens all the time year after year , geez
Who would actually be swimming in this weather anyway?
Maybe moving the whale there? I would stay buried in that water for sure, and the bacteria would have a ball!!!
wow, what a shock, Goddard park beach is closed. that water is always scummy. swimming should be banned at that $hit hole for good.
I hope they inform the whales.
Anytime Rhode Island has alot of rain most of the beaches are closed due to hi bacteria. Luckily it is only a few this time .
Why would anyone EVER swim at these places. Just knowing that they always fail these tests, I’d be worried about growing a third foot or something.
