PITTSFIELD, Mass.  - An antique toy collection owned by a member of the family that founded KB Toys is going on the auction block later this week.

Jeanne Bertoia of Bertoia Auctions in Vineland, N.J., tells The Berkshire Eagle that Donald Kaufman’s assortment collected over six decades is the “king of all toy collections” and could fetch “millions.“

It took three trucks to transport the hundreds of pieces, including cast-iron and steel cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles, from the 78-year-old Kaufman’s Richmond, Mass., home to New Jersey.

Kaufman says he’s not selling the collection because of the economy, he just feels it’s time.

Kaufman’s family sold the chain of retail toy stores in 1981.

The Pittsfield-based company declared bankruptcy in December.
