CANTON, Mass.—Dunkin’ Donuts has temporarily halted the sale of hot chocolate and Dunkaccino brand beverages after learning that some equipment used at a supplier’s facility was contaminated with salmonella.
The Canton, Mass.-based company said in a statement Tuesday that none of its products was contaminated and that the decision to withdraw the beverages from its stores was done as a precaution to
ensure customer safety.
The supplier, Plainview Milk Products Cooperative of Plainview, Minn., announced it had voluntarily recalled its instant nonfat dried milk and whey protein as well as some thickening agents due to potential salmonella contamination.
Plainview said there were no reported illnesses.
Dunkin’ Donuts said it expected to resume hot chocolate and Dunkaccino sales shortly.

Mike, I know what you meant. My point was that I would guess hot chocolate sales dwindle in these months. I wonder if they would suck up a loss in January or take their chances with the bacteria. And you’re right, you would think that the extreme heat that we are cautioned about on the cup would kill bacteria. Who really cares anyway… I’m a Starbucks girl.
ahh I meant the “heat” from the “Hot Hot chocolate”
Not from the summer “heat” lol
Lucky them that this happened in the summer. I wonder if they would have rolled the dice if this occured in the middle of January.
Doesn’t heat kill bacteria?
