Molar Express named Champion in Action

CRANSTON, R.I.—Citizens Bank, Rhode Island and NBC 10 named the Molar Express in Cranston as their 2008 fourth quarter Champion in Action in the community health care category.

As part of the award the Molar Express will receive a $25,000 grant, media coverage and extensive promotional and volunteer support for its outstanding work.

The Molar Express is a custom-designed, 40-foot-long dental office-on-wheels whose purchase was funded by the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The mobile dental unit brings dental care into the community to meet the demand for services to under-served children.

MarcAurele, president of Citizens Bank in Rhode Island. “The Molar Express is critical in providing communities with access to oral health care across Rhode Island and we are proud to assist this organization with its mission.“

“NBC 10 congratulates Molar Express for the important dental services it provides to children in our local schools and community programs,“ said Lisa Churchville, President and General Manager of NBC 10. “Molar Express is making crucial dental care possible for all kids, even if their families can’t afford it. This is a tremendous resource for those that need it most.“

Champions in Action is a joint initiative of Citizens Bank and NBC 10, launched six years ago, to recognize and support nonprofit organizations for their contributions to Rhode Island communities. A new Champion in Action is selected each quarter among a range of social service topics.
