Providence to be on 'Parking Wars' reality show

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The trials and tribulations of Providence's parking enforcement staff are about to get a national audience.

The Providence Journal reports that Providence will be featured on the A&E reality show "Parking Wars" alongside Philadelphia and Detroit when the fifth season debuts next month.

The city agreed to a one-year contract with New York City-based production company Hybrid Films, which filmed parking enforcement officers on the beat last summer.

The Journal reports Hybrid wants to enter a multiyear deal with the city, which requires City Council approval.

Some council members are tepid about extending the deal. Councilman Kevin Jackson says the show "makes the city look stupid."
