The man known for years as Salty Brine's sidekick on Rhode Island radio has passed away.

Larry Kruger was 66 years old.

Kruger started at WPRO in 1973.  He began his career while serving in the Navy and also worked in Springfield, Mass.

In 1977, he joined Salty Brine on the station's morning show, where he remained a fixture until Salty's retirement in 1993.

After Brine's retirement, Kruger, who had the on-air moniker "Ice Cold," spent two years co-hosting WPRO's morning drive-time show with John "Coach" Colletto.

Kruger also served as a traffic reporter for NBC 10 in the 1990s.

Kruger was inducted into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame in May.

Visiting hours and a funeral service are scheduled for Saturday at the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest in Swansea, Mass.
