»  Comments | Post a Comment

The state Department of Labor and Training said Wednesday that John Crane Inc. will be closing its Cranston plant.

The DLT said about 70 people will be laid off between April and June. The department said it would help laid-off workers with filing for unemployment benefits and looking for new jobs.

According to its website, John Crane designs and manufactures seals and associated products mainly for the oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper and mining sectors.

The Cranston plant is at 50 Sharpe Drive.
