For Walker Williams and Kevin Durfee, they felt they had a good concept for a website.
"We got a great response, but the website we built fell apart really quickly," Williams said.
So after a bit of a struggle, they began tweaking the mechanics of the site over about seven months to launch jobzle.com.
It came after Williams and Durfee tried looking for jobs while at Brown University and found few resources. They heard the same thing from other businesses.
"We found they were having the same problem. So, it was really hard for them to find the right students," Durfee said.
From there, jobzle.com launched. The concept was to connect college students with local jobs and internships while they're at school.
"On our website we only have college students and we verify that through their e-mail address," Durfee said.
Williams and Durfee said they get between 25,000-30,000 hits a month. More than 1,000 students have registered and about 200 jobs have been posted.
"And things seem to be continuing to grow," Williams said.
The students that have registered are from all Rhode Island schools. The website is free, but there are charges for certain premiums.
Williams and Durfee said they have official office space in Providence and have been building up their team with engineers and managers.
